Cross Cultural

Homicide in Oakland takes many forms and crosses cultural, language and racial lines. Jian Jin and Blair Robertson had little in common, but both young men were victims of senseless violence whose lives were cut short far too soon. On Saturday, May 10th, SAVE will stand to remember Jian and Blair on 5th Ave and E. 12th Street at 11:00am. Silence is deadly. It doesn't matter how you say it, Say Something! - ????! - Decir Algo!

"He was a teenager, he wasn?t perfect, but he wanted to be better, he was working toward being better,? Ken Porter said. "His life was shining bright and his future was ahead of him". Now 18 year old Kiante Campbell will never fulfill the promise that so many of his friends and family saw in him. On April 27, 2013 at 11:00am, Soldiers Against Violence Everywhere will stand on 20th and Telegraph to remember the bright light that was Kiante's life. Shine your light to drive back the darkness that is claiming too many of our youth. Stand with SAVE and SAY SOMETHING!

A Family Legacy Lost

Children are the jewels of a family. The Harbin family was robbed of its legacy when 17 year old Ken was gunned down before his 18th birthday. He never got the chance to go to prom, to graduate, to tuly live. Soldiers Against Violence Everywhere will stand in memory of Ken and in support of his family on Saturday, April 20, 11:00am on the corner of 90th and Bancroft. We want to let the world know that our babies deserve a chance at life too. If you believe that now is the time for a change in Oakland, join us and SAY SOMETHING!

A Dream Deferred

She was only 15 years old - a beautiful young lady with dreams of going to college and becoming a teacher. But in an instant her dream was shattered and her family was faced with the nightmare of her tragic loss. On Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11:00am, Soldiers Against Violence Everywhere will stand on 66th Ave and International Blvd in memory of Jubrille Jordan. We stand for peace, for healing, for life - we stand so that every child like Jubrille can have a chance to live out their dreams. Now is the time - SAY SOMETHING!

Things are out of control when respected shopkeepers can not conduct business, and grandmothers cannot simply walk to the grocery store. Wilbur Bartley and Ramona Foreman were beloved members of our community and did not deserve to have their lives snuffed out so violently. We are outraged by what happened in Newtown and we are enraged by what is going on in The Town. It's time to STAND UP Oakland! Join us 12/29/12 on 92nd and International at 11:00am and let the world know that we too are tired of the gun violence in our city.

Ceasefire for the Holidays

When we come together as a village, we can stand against any adversity! Soldiers Against Violence Everywhere will join with M.A.D. and Oakland motorcycle clubs in the Ceasefire for the Holidays peace rally on Saturday 12/8/12 at the Rainbow... Rec Center 5800 International Blve. SAVE will hold a Stand In to remember three young men killed in that area on the corner of 58th and E14th starting at 11:00am prior to the rally which starts at 1:00pm. We are pleading for everyone to join together with us to Say Something about the violence. Enough is enough!

MiAndrew Rachel was known as a giving young man who helped his grandmother and others. Lorenzo Ward was gunned down just steps from Children's Hospital. MiAndrew's aunt Rita said "As parents we need to take back our streets. It's just senseless, you are killing each other". On this Saturday, SAVE will stand in remembrance of our lost brothers MiAndrew and Lorenzo and call for peace on the streets. Join us at 11:00am on MLK and W. The pain of losing a loved one does not stop when the reporters leave and the memorial is gone. We must continue to keep the families that are mourning in our thoughts and prayers every day, all year long. A few days ago Otis Lee Key was savagely gunned down. One of the 20 bullets meant for him missed its mark and hit a seven year old bystander. Enough is enough!! On Saturday 9/1, Soldiers Against Violence Everywhere will stand in remembrance of Brother Key as well as William Adams and Terrance Jackson, young men killed in the streets of West Oakland. The time for silence is over. Before another child is killed, we all must SAY SOMETHING!!
